Mobile Advertising Red Wine with CEO Magnus Jern Golden Gekko

My first German boyfriend (never again) was called Gekko (nickname as he used to die is hair green and it was short and wired). Anyway – I love the name Golden Gekko! Now I know the founder and also have checked out the website it really does suit what this mobile advertising company does.

So with red wine in one hand and mobile phone in the other I did the rounds at the MMF networking party. I had arranged with PR agent Laura Lynne to find and meet Magnus Jern CEO and Founder of Golden Gekko. So, my first question was about three different things rolled into one.

Vodafone Vodacom

Vodafone notes the announcement issued by Telkom SA Limited and
confirms that it has made a non-binding proposal to acquire a 15%
stake in Vodacom Group (Proprietary) Limited for a cash consideration
of ZAR 22.5 billion less the attributable net debt of Vodacom at the
date of signing subject to, inter alia, the listing and unbundling of
Telkom’s remaining stake of 35% in Vodacom to Telkom shareholders (the
“Proposed Transaction”).

In the back of a Taxi with David Barker from Nokia and misquote

I needed a lift to the airport after the MMF Conference as I lost my credit cards the week before and my EC card from Germany didn’t work in Hungary so I was slightly cash strapped. I met David Barker from Nokia’s Mobile Advertising arm (ex-Enpocket) at the check-out desk and he graciously offered to take me to the airport.

It was great spending some personal time with him and I asked him in greater depth about the presentation he gave yesterday.

I addressed the questions I blogged about yesterday and I fear I misquoted him (see here). Alexandra Deutsch from Out There Media asked David two questions but in my haste blogging I missed one response.

So, I started out my conversation with Giannis Gkantaras Section Manager at Cosmote Mobile Communications and Nicholas Zartaloudis 3rd Party Services and VAS Reporting person with “what was that really innovative mobile company in Greece that had that HUGE success with i-mode”.

Bena Roberts and Michael Bayle from Yahoo!

I had a lovely dinner last night and I sat next to some great guys namely Michael Bayle from Yahoo! and two mobile operators (names and photos coming!) form Greece. Unfortunately for GoMo News I had my visibility mobile hat on - but we had a great night and a great chat.
